Position Title: EHS Coordinator

Aftermath Services, LLC (Aftermath), the nation's leader in biohazard
remediation services, is currently seeking an Environmental, Health
& Safety (EHS) Coordinator to join our EHS Department at our
corporate office in Aurora, IL.
Job Overview:
The EHS Coordinator assists the Director of EHS to ensure that
Aftermath adheres to all regulatory requirements for our industry.
Aftermath has 46 shops and counting across the nation that provide
biohazard remediation services throughout the contiguous United
States. Each of Aftermath’s shops is a generator, transporter and
storage facility for biohazardous and potentially infectious medical
waste. As such, Aftermath maintains strict compliance with all
federal, state and local regulatory requirements.
The EHS Coordinator’s core responsibility is to identify, acquire and
maintain all necessary environmental regulatory permits, registrations
and licenses for our operations. Nearly all 50 states have enacted
biohazardous medical waste regulations to some extent, which vary
diversely. Maintaining environmental and health regulatory compliance
requires ongoing communications with regulatory agencies as well as
all levels of Aftermath’s operations and management personnel. The EHS
Coordinator also assists with occupational safety training,
maintaining business licenses, client-specific safety prerequisites,
employee records and internal resources. Additional EHS administrative
functions will be assigned, as needed, to support various company initiatives.
Main Responsibilities:
- Identify, acquire and maintain environmental permits, licenses,
registrations and renewals related to biohazard and potentially
infectious medical waste
- Identify and adhere to all federal, state and local regulatory requirements
- Maintain management of change practices to accommodate
relocation, expansion and maintenance of shops, vehicles and
other assets
- Assist with regulatory compliance by developing, implementing and
managing EHS related programs, procedures, training materials, and
other resources
- Maintain strong participation in ongoing Safety Committee initiatives
- Maintain business licenses and renewals
- Serve as regulatory affairs representative in completing,
reviewing and submitting necessary documentation to ensure
regulatory compliance
- Liaison between management and government agencies
- Maintain a strong technical understanding of applicable business
and biomedical waste laws, standards of practice, and regulatory guidance
- Support and enforce biohazard waste manifest management system
- Facilitate and conduct periodic internal EHS audits to ensure
successful implementation of compliance management practices
- Support EHS, Marketing and other departments with regulatory research
